The physical dimension recognizes the need to care for one’s body for the present and future. Physical wellness encourages maintaining a healthy lifestyle through proper diet, physical activity and exercise, and substance control. Optimal health is taking a personal responsibility to care for one’s health through self-care and appropriate medical attention. The physical benefits of looking good and feeling terrific most often lead to the psychological benefits of enhanced self-esteem, self-control, determination and a sense of direction.
